Four Sundays in November - Third November Sunday - The 16 Truths of Ifa - Reflection Before a Single White Candle is Lit
1. There is a single God. - This is what I have been taught and believe.
2. There is no Devil. - I have always believed this deep in my heart and have been troubled by the various Christian apologists when they try to explain the Biblical Devil concept.
3. Except for the day you were born and the day you are
supposed to die, there is no single event in your life
that cannot be forecast and, when necessary, changed. - I doubt I fully understand the impact of this statement but I do not find it hard to accept.
4. It is your birthright to be happy, successful, and fulfilled. - I have faith that the achievement of arriving at your destiny's destination, or the road to a liberation from being captive, leads to happiness, success and fulfillment.
5. You should grow and obtain wisdom during the process. - I agree life is our opportunity to grow and obtain wisdom.
6. You are reborn through your blood relatives. - This is a new concept to me and I need to obtain more wisdom on what rebirth means in this context.
7. Heaven is "home" and Earth "the marketplace." We are in constant passage between the two. - I already see an inherent truth in this statement.
8. You are part of the universe in a literal, not figurative, way. - This makes sens on a surface level but I need to obtain more wisdom on what the terms literal and figurative mean.
9. You must never initiate harm to another human being. - I am in absolute agreement with this truth.
10. You must never harm the universe of which you are part. - I agree while acknowledging I need more wisdom on how this truth impacts daily life.
11. Your temporal and spiritual capacities must work together. - Again a truth that makes sense.
12. You are born with a specific path. It is your goal to travel it. Divination provides your road map. This is a new concept to me. I am open to seeing how divination works
13. Our ancestors exist and must be honored. - This is one of my prime motivators to explore Ifa.
14. Sacrifice guarantees success. - Sacrifice and success need to be defined for me to embrace this truth.
15. The orisa live within us. - I need to obtain more wisdom on this truth.
16. You need have no fear. - An important truth that is way to easy to forget.
I wonder if Ifa might provide the perspective that Riemannian geometry provides to Euclidean geometry. One geometry, as a tool, delivers a solution more easily depending on the problem.
